Fortnite games run either as custom matches, which need an Epic-issued custom key, or as points-based events across public matches. The custom-key route gives a clean private lobby; the public route relies on players reporting placements within a window.
The organizer enters the room ID and password once when they publish. Both stay encrypted until a set number of minutes before start — 15 by default — and then unlock for confirmed players only. Nobody pastes a code into a channel half the lobby cannot read, and nobody joins a room they were never approved for.
Fortnite formats you'll see
Solos
Placement plus elimination points across several matches. The easiest Fortnite format to fill.
Duos and squads
Same scoring, registered as a team.
Zone wars and box fights
Creative-map formats that behave like a bracket. Much easier to score than a points series.
Prizes in Fortnite events
Cash or V-Bucks. V-Bucks are usually delivered as a gift card or a code rather than a direct transfer, and gifting is restricted in ways that can bite — ask how the organizer intends to deliver it, and whether your account's region can receive it. Fragnet displays the prize and nothing else.
Hosting a Fortnite game
- If you are running custom matches, confirm your custom key works before publishing.
- Publish the points table — placement and elimination weightings change how the lobby plays, deliberately.
- Set a platform and input policy if you care about controller versus keyboard.
- Say how results are verified for public-lobby events.
Fortnite FAQ
- Do I need a custom key to host a Fortnite tournament?
- For private custom matches, yes — that comes from Epic, not from Fragnet. Without one, organizers run points-based events across public matches.
- How are V-Bucks prizes delivered?
- Usually as a gift card or code, since direct gifting is restricted. The organizer should state the method and the timeframe on the listing.
- Are Fortnite events on Fragnet bracketed?
- Fragnet has no bracket generator. Most Fortnite events are points-based anyway; organizers running a bracket link it from the listing.
- Are there casual Fortnite games?
- Yes. Solos points events are the most casual format, since you need no duo or squad and can play the matches in the window. Filter to casual and free entry.
